JAMPRO Supports Launch of RFI for Jamaica’s Renewable Energy and Battery Storage Procurement

JAMPRO recently supported the hosting of the Request for Information (RFI) launch for Jamaica’s second tranche of renewable energy and battery storage procurement, held at the JAMPRO Business Auditorium.

The initiative, led by the Generation Procurement Entity (GPE) with support from RELP, forms part of Jamaica’s push to increase its renewable energy capacity and strengthen energy security. The upcoming procurement will target 220 MW of renewable energy and 110 MW of battery energy storage (BESS), marking one of the largest clean energy opportunities in the region.

The RFI process allows investors, developers and stakeholders to provide input on the structure of the upcoming Request for Proposal, helping to shape a competitive, bankable framework aligned with market realities. It also signals Jamaica’s continued commitment to transparency and private sector participation in national development for the energy sector.

Through engagements like these, JAMPRO continues to facilitate investment opportunities in the sector, supporting Jamaica’s transition to sustainable energy and positioning the country as a competitive destination for energy investment.
